Novato Housing Coalition advocates for the provision of housing to match the needs of the community. The current greatest shortage is for the ‘very low’ income category. Here that translates to families earning less than $40,000 per year. This web site provides information on the ongoing General Plan Update, significant opportunities with large planned developments, and has helpful information about some current projects that can help with shelter and rent that other organizations operate. The Novato Housing Coalition advocates for community-based affordable housing. Through phone calls, letters, news articles, and attendance at City Council meeting, the Coalition keeps affordable housing as a focal point in the local political process. Our Goals: How to Help: Join our Friends group which receives our regular communications and attends key City Council meetings to show support for affordable housing in Novato. Invite us to speak to your congregation, club or other appropriate organization. The Novato Housing Coalition was the recipient of the 2003 Mel Boyce Award for Housing Advocacy and the 2004 Marin Economic Commission's Award of Excellence. NHC Steering.
